Original NiCd battery packs are defective, leaked, or lost. Our adapters replace them with standard AA and AAA batteries — no modification to the camera.

Camera model determines the adapter

Each Beaulieu model has its own battery compartment with different dimensions and contacts. There is no universal adapter — but the assignment is clear:

6008 / 6008S / 7008 / 9008 → AA adapter (6x AA NiMH)
4008 S / ZM / ZMII / ZM4 / M3 → V2 cover adapter (integrated, 12x AAA)
3008 S / 5008 S → AAA adapter (6x AAA NiMH)
R16 / 2016 → AAA adapter (6x AAA NiMH)
S2008 (3-pin connector) → 3-pin block (4x AA NiMH)

Attention: The S2008 exists in two versions. Check whether your camera has the 3-pin or 1-pin connector before ordering. If unsure: send us a photo of the battery compartment — we’ll tell you which adapter fits.

What is included in the complete package?

Each complete package includes the adapter, a set of matching NiMH batteries, and a multi-charger. You don’t need to buy anything extra — unpack, charge, shoot.

The high-end models of the Beaulieu Super 8 range need plenty of power — especially at high frame rates. The AA adapter provides the necessary capacity and torque buffer that the film transport demands at 80fps.

Why AA and not AAA?

The 6008 series draws significantly more power than the smaller models. AA NiMH cells deliver higher discharge currents and keep the voltage more stable even at full motor speed. If you skimp on weak cells with the 6008, you risk frame rate fluctuations and film transport stuttering. 6x AA gives you 7.2V nominal — enough to supply the motor cleanly even at 80fps.

The V2 adapter replaces the entire battery cover of the 4008 series. No fiddling — the cover already contains the battery cage. Screw it on, insert batteries, done.

What does "V2" mean?

The second generation of our 4008 adapter. The cover integrates the battery cage directly into the housing and no longer needs a separate block. Fits all 4008 variants (S, ZM, ZMII, ZM4) and the M3.

The sound models of the 3000 and 5000 series share the same battery compartment format. The AAA adapter reliably powers them again with 6 NiMH cells.

The 16mm workhorses from Beaulieu. The R16 and its successor 2016 use their own battery compartment format — our adapter fills it with 6x AAA NiMH.

16mm, not Super 8

The R16 and the 2016 are 16mm cameras — not Super 8. The battery compartment differs from the Super 8 models. The adapter is delivered as a set: battery cage plus end cap. If needed, there is also a 2-piece set for shooting days with a spare battery.

The S2008 with the 3-pin connector gets its own cover adapter. 4x AA NiMH provide enough power for combined picture and sound operation.

The Beaulieu battery problem

Beaulieu cameras use proprietary NiCd battery packs. These were specially made for these cameras in the 1970s and 80s. The issue in 2026:

No longer produced. Original NiCd packs have not been available for decades.
Leaking. Old packs leak potassium hydroxide and damage the contacts in the battery compartment.
Capacity loss. Even "good" original packs now only deliver a fraction of their rated capacity.
Wittner Cinetec was long the only alternative — now hardly available anymore.

Our adapters replace proprietary packs with standardized AA or AAA NiMH batteries: available everywhere, affordable to replace, and with higher capacity than the originals.
